It's the sixtieth anniversary of the Freedom Summer Project of 1964, a movement to get Black people registered to vote in Mississippi.

In this episode of Think Twice, you’ll hear from Dr. Kevin McGruder, associate professor of history at Antioch College, and Dr. Steve Schwerner, a retired academic and the brother of Mickey Schwerner—one of the three voting activists murdered by white supremacists during Freedom Summer.

Dave Barber has hosted programs on WYSO dating back to 1977. A Dayton native, Barber got involved with the station after listening to YSO and learning about all kinds of music from programmers such as Art Snyder, Larry Blood, Jon Fox and many others. He's also a graduate of WYSO's Community Voices training program.
