Mason Community Players present Decision Height, a production that tells the story of the Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) who served in World War II assisting the men who were fighting. It features a nine-member, all-female cast that includes seven WASP, a female flight instructor, and the government-employed den mother. Decision Height is a historical drama written by Meredith Dayna Levy. The play follows these women through triumphs and tragedies. It explores their experiences, the deep bonds they form, and the sacrifices they make while highlighting an under-recognized group of American heroes. This patriotic play will be performed October 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10 at 8 p.m. and October 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets ($18 for Seniors/Students and $20 General) are available at MasonPlayers.org, by calling 513-398-7804, or at the door. The Box Office opens one hour before curtain.

The 5^th annual Dayton Vampire Ball will be held on Saturday, October 10^th at The Fairborn Phoenix. Doors open at sunset 7:06pm.

This year’s event includes sultry singers, burlesque performers, fire dancers and many other sexy vampire themed performances.

There will be a courtyard with gothic vendors and dinner options. The dance portion of the event will immediately follow the show.

This new series is all about having fun, polishing our dancing, and giving callers a warm space to grow. Expect chances to share thoughts, try new things, and support one another.

All moves will be taught. No partner needed. Recorded music. All ages are welcome.
Cost is Free. Everyone (really...everyone) is welcome!

If you are new to dancing, please arrive by at least 6:45 so that you don't miss any teaching.
6-7pm - Food (brown bag supper style (ie bring your own supper or maybe something to share)) and fellowship
7-9pm - Dancing

Artistic Directress Qarrianne Blayr presents 4 dance works ranging from contemporary ballet to modern tango to the Victoria, inviting audiences to engage with vibrant athletic examples of what it means to be human. The evening is propelled forward with works by Dwight Rhoden, William B. McClellan Jr., Alvin Rangel, and Blayr herself. Celebrate the moving legacy of this season with Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. Come dressed in costume, your evening attire, or just as you are this festive October 31 and November 1 weekend.

Let the rhythms lift your feet and your spirits! Join us on first Fridays to dance, socialize, or just sit and listen to some of the best bands and callers in the region. No experience is necessary, all ages are welcome and you don’t need to bring a partner. The caller teaches all dances before they start. Live music at every dance.

Caller - Margaret Ann Goodman brings her great knowledge of teaching to the dance floor. She has a great repertoire of dances that she uses to pick the right dance for the right moment.

Contra dancing is done in long lines of dancers rather than in groups of four couples forming a square. Many of the terms and movements are the same in both contra and square dancing, so if you remember anything from school or previous dancing, you’re already halfway there!
And don’t be surprised if a contra dance caller includes a square dance or two during the evening—sometimes we mix things up!
The footwork in contra dancing is very simple. Most of the time, you’re simply walking to the music, with a few easy steps and movements added along the way. The caller teaches each dance as you go, so you don’t need to know the dances ahead of time.
