Community Calendar

We’ll finish our bird walks for the year looking for year-round residents, and winter birds like White-throated Sparrow and Brown Creeper. Bring your binoculars and dress for the weather. The walk is slow-paced, and mostly stays on the road surface, but sometimes does venture “off-trail” into the grass. All ages welcome. The tour will meet at the Eichelberger Plaza at the main gates of the cemetery.

Your nature guide will be Amanda Lawson, an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist.

All tours require a reservation and there is a suggested $5 donation. All donations support the Woodland Arboretum Foundation which focuses on the restoration, preservation, horticultural and educational projects needed to keep Woodland a cultural resource for Dayton and Ohio.

Crossroads Railroad Club invites the community to a FREE Open House November 14, 11 AM–5 PM, and November 15, 1–4 PM, at 304 N. Dixie Dr., Vandalia, OH 45377. See the club’s HO scale railroad in operation along with N scale display layouts while the main N scale layout is under reconstruction. Kids are welcome, refreshments will be available, and admission is free.

Foster an early love of art with Art Start Preschool Storytime at the Kettering Health Art Gallery, in partnership with the Dayton Metro Library! Parents and children ages three through six are invited to enjoy one to four stories followed by a hands-on craft led by a Rosewood instructor. Join us every 2nd Thursday of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Rosewood Arts Center. Free and open to the public!

If you like digging into backstories as much as listening to music, join us to discuss music-related books, documentaries, podcasts and more.

Because no one wants to spend time reading a book they don't like, there is no assigned title. Instead, you choose a book (or documentary, podcast, article, zine, etc.) that fits in with a monthly theme. When we get together, we'll all share the stories, songs, and clips we found. This kind of book club is a great way to get reading recommendations and discover new bands.
