The Noatak Wild River and Gates of the Arctic National Park are located in Alaska above the Arctic Circle. The river runs 333 miles from its source in Gates of the Arctic National Park to the Kelly River in the Noatak National Preserve. The river continues another 150 miles to Kotzebue Sound, the Chukchi Sea, and the Arctic Ocean. Noatak – means “passage to the interior.” There are no roads, campgrounds, maintained trails, ranger stations, or other visitor amenities. This is the largest watershed in North America essentially untouched by human activity.
National Parks not only deliver stunning landscapes but they also provide mental/emotional, physical, social and educational benefits to those who take advantage of recreational opportunities in the great out-of-doors.
