Women Make Music…and Radio

Women in Music aired on WYSO from 1975 to 2001. It was believed to be the longest running women’s music radio show in the United States. In this episode we'll go back to the beginning when Dayton area native Martha Oelman returned to Ohio after spending time in California soaking up the Berkely women’s music scene. We'll hear the voices from the collective of women who hosted the show through the years and about the arc of women's music during Women In Music's 26 year tenure.

This episode of Rediscovered Radio: Women's Voices, Women's Music in the WYSO Archives was written reported and produced by Juliet Fromholt with Jocelyn Robinson. Sound design by Tom Amrhein. Jesse Dukes is the editor.
