The Modern College of Design in Kettering has expanded its educational facilities and now plans to build new dormitories in Kettering.

The Modern College of Design in Kettering is buying three acres of land on East David Road to build some new student housing.

For more than 35 years the college was called The School of Advertising Art. Then, in 2018, they went through a major rebranding and expansion.

Jessica Barry, The Modern’s president, says the college has already tripled its size. They’ve added classrooms, a library, and a new photography and video studio.

She says the next step is dorms "because the majority of our students relocate to the Kettering area to become students at The Modern. So, we’re now doing our due diligence, doing environmental studies and soil borings and all that fun stuff. And then we’re anticipating, from talking with developers, that it’s probably a 24 month project once we pull the trigger."

That works out to about three or four years from now.

The Modern says the dorms are expected to house about 100 students.
