Police are studying mall surveillance video as they investigate the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old Ohio boy after authorities say he tried to rob a shopper in a quest to obtain popular, limited-edition athletic shoes.
Miami Township police say a man with a concealed weapon permit fired his gun after he and another man were accosted Saturday morning by three teens on a sidewalk outside the Dayton Mall.
Police say one teen showed a gun and demanded the men turn over their newly bought shoes before he was shot.
Investigators say all of those involved had gone to the mall for sales of Nike Air Jordan shoes, but the teens missed out.
Police Chief Ronald Hess says prosecutors will decide after the investigation about any charges in the case.
