Springfield played host to city's first-ever Gourmet Food Truck Competition over the weekend. Veterans Park was jammed with people who turned out to sample food from nearly 40 vendors.

The food trucks were competing for a $10,000 grand prize as judges tasted and graded each vendor's signature dish. Harvest Mobile Cuisine from Spring Valley, Ohio took the top prize with its Land and Sea BLT.

"We always set the bar high, and so we just came out to win, and we were very hopeful," said Harvest Chef Patrick Sartin. He says the grand prize money will go into growing his food truck business, and he feels Saturday's event was a huge success.

"I think Springfield did a great job of promoting the event. A great location to hold the event, bands, everything, a really good day," he said.

Judges awarded Mojo Tago the $2,000 runner-up prize for best signature dish, while Zombie Dogz had the best menu, Marty's Waffles best truck design and Hunger Paynes best customer service. Each of the trucks received a $1,000 prize for winning their categories.

The Food Truck Competition was organized by the Springfield Rotary Club as a fundraiser for the Rotary Club's charities. WYSO was the media sponsor for the event, and Speedway was the corporate sponsor.
