13 People Killed On Ohio Roads Thanksgiving Weekend

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 13 people lost their lives in crashes on Ohio’s roadways during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend between midnight on November 27th to midnight Monday morning. The Patrol’s Sargent Vincent Shirey says the department also cracked down on drunk and impaired drivers.

“We saw the Ohio Highway Patrol arrested 503 drivers for OVI this weekend which was a nine percent increase but when you look at that, we saw a decrease in the number of people killed in fatal crashes over the weekend. So we had 3 people killed out of the two alcohol related crashes which is a decrease from 2012.”

Shirey says of the 13 killed in roadway crashes this past holiday weekend, seven were not wearing a safety belt.
