Police Investigating Bomb Threat at Antioch Midwest

On Thursday evening, the Yellow Springs police department responded to a bomb threat made by an anonymous caller claiming that an explosive device had been placed at Antioch Midwest University, located at 900 Dayton Street.

No explosives were found after the building was evacuated and searched, Police Chief Anthony Pettiford says the investigation into who made the threat is ongoing.  But YSPD is looking into a person of interest in Florida they believe to be behind the threat.

The man is alleged to have a connection to Antioch dating back nearly 20 years. He is alleged to have periodically made similar bomb threats since 2008. Pettiford says police are working to stop the threats.

"We've got to stop this foolishness, it's inciting panic you got to evacuate a university like that it becomes a nightmare. So, we are going to move aggressively on this and see if we can't get charges on this guy," he said.

Pettiford says YSPD is working with the Greene County Prosecutor's Office and Florida officials in an attempt to get charges filed against the alleged suspect.
