Springfield Chamber Receives National Honor

The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce was named runner-up for the 2012 Chamber of the Year Award. The competition is the only one in the country to recognize chambers for their efforts to create business and lead communities.

The 2012 National Chamber of Commerce Convention was held in Louisville, Kentucky recently. Springfield, along with Fargo, North Dakota and Lubbock, Texas, were finalists for the Chamber of the Year honors. And when the envelope was opened, Lubbock, Texas was named Chamber of the Year.

Winners of the award were selected from four categories based on revenue size.

Applicants were asked to submit examples of marketing and other initiatives that showed efforts to better the community they serve. This was the first time Springfield's chamber had been recognized on a national level.

The contest judges felt that Springfield clearly has a strong chamber that deserves national recognition and should be proud of its communication efforts, and had a very good application with two strong examples of leading businesses and leading the community.
