Ohio Governor to Announce Job Training Initiative

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is expected today to announce plans for training programs at three community colleges that will aim to provide certain groups of people with job training and employment services.The Plain Dealer in Cleveland reports the work force development initiative will include one-year pilot programs at three schools.

Lorain County Community College will offer career development targeting minorities that are disproportionately unemployed. A Columbus State Community College program will help young people learn more about several career fields and entry-level skills.  Cincinnati State Technical and Community College plans extra training for struggling graduates of a local food service industry program.

A spokeswoman for Kasich says the goal is training people for types of work that are in demand.
