After a 14 year long full-band hiatus Middletown band Okay Lindon has released a self-titled full length album. Dustin Smith and Jordan Elam sat down with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt to catch up and chat about their newfound recording process.
Rather than recording each individual musician one at at time the band opted for a live-recording style which allowed them to finish the album much faster. Smith says that this new workflow actually surprised them all.
"I think it was scary at first. I don't think we really knew how it was going to go. We've never recorded live before. We've always kind of written behind a computer and individually tracked everything. But then like a couple of songs into it, we thought like,'This process is really serving us well. We should have just been doing this all along."
Even after so many years not releasing new music together Elam says that the band members were all ready to get down to business.
"We have a chemistry from having known each other and played music with each other for so long and so many times that we really felt comfortable and just took it seriously and got it done."
