Tim Gebard and the Hitmen returned to WYSO for a studio session live on Kaleidoscope and conversation with music director Juliet Fromholt about Gebard's new single, "Faithful Companion" and the band's upcoming performances.
"Faithful Companion" is the result of inspiration and imagination.
"I think everybody I know has a dog," said Gebard. "I have a dog, and I was wondering one day what he might actually think about me if he could talk and I started writing some lyrics of what I thought he might say...but that's pretty favorable on my part. It's about a special relationship, I guess, with our four-legged friends. "
Gebard says his songwriting process is evolving as he ages, "I have found I'm always the oldest guy in the room so I'm like if I get a new song I better record it because you know how much time you've got left. But the other thing is, you know writing songs is a funny kind of a thing. You might have five ideas in a day and then nothing for years so you know when it strikes, it strikes. W hat I have found is that for me right now, I throw away more ideas than I actually finish. I don't know if I'm getting a little more picky about what I'm keeping or not."
