Live on Excursions: Casey Abrams

Casey Abrams of "American Idol" stops by WYSO to perform live on Excursions.

Before gaining national attention on the TV show “American Idol”, Abrams was playing bass in small restaurants and other venues in his native Los Angeles. After his run on the show, Abrams began work on his self-titled album with fellow musician Elliot Schwartzman and is currently touring the country.

Abrams’ first impression on “American Idol” was certainly unique (as he brought upright bass on the show with him). And like his TV appearance, Abrams’ music is also unique and quirky, yet soulful at the same time. Abrams’ talent with several different instruments truly creates a folk sound that is simply charming.

During his chat with Niki Dakota on this installment of Excursions, Abrams talks about his time on American Idol, his “Post-Idol” life, and the production of his new album. Abrams and Schwartzman also perform several of their songs live on WYSO.
