Dennis J. Turner has had a long career as an attorney and a law
professor. In his new novel, he mines his own personal experiences as an
American lawyer working in partnership with an English barrister in the
British courts. While this fictional account is very much based upon the
author's own life, he decided to write this book as a novel for the extra
literary freedom it provided.

Our American lawyer, David, is taken on by a charismatic Englishman who
shows him the ins and outs of the British court system while also
entertaining him with gourmet meals and whirlwind moments of excess at
his various residences. David eventually becomes quite devoted to his
mentor and when it is revealed that his barrister's lifestyle
has dealt him a looming death sentence the story becomes rather poignant
and even bittersweet.
