UD's Miller Receives Contract Extension

Thanks, in part, to an improbable run in this year's NCAA men's basketball tournament, the University of Dayton has given a contract extension to head basketball coach Archie Miller. Miller's deal was announced Monday afternoon and has him coaching at UD through the 2018-19 season.

Miller has been the head coach of the Flyers since 2011 and has guided the team this year to the Sweet 16 for the first time in 30 years.

The 11th-seeded Dayton squad has beaten favorites Ohio State and Syracuse along the way and will now tangle with 10th seed Stanford Thursday night in Memphis for the right to advance to the Elite Eight.

UD issued a statement regarding Miller's contract extension which states that the school is pleased with the academic and competitive success the men's basketball program has had under Miller's leadership. Financial terms of the deal weren't released.

Miller's brother Sean coaches the Arizona Wildcats, a tournament top-seed. It's possible that both teams could play in the title game if they keep their winning streaks alive.
