Bomb Threat Suspect Identified As Former Antioch Student

Police have identified a suspect allegedly responsible for calling in a bomb threat last week to Antioch University Midwest in Yellow Springs.  A man law enforcement believes committed the suspect is now in custody in Florida.

A week ago, Antioch University Midwest was evacuated and the building was searched, but no explosives were found. Police Chief Anthony Pettiford says an investigation has led law enforcement to detain Anthony Mark Thomas, who they believe made the call.

"We were able to track him down in Tampa, Florida. Tampa police department assisted us with locating him, because he made the calls from that location he was placed under arrest under their jurisdiction down there," he said.

Pettiford says YSPD is working with the Greene County Prosecutor's Office and Florida officials in an attempt to get charges filed against Thomas.

"It's probably going to be inducing panic, telecommunications harassment. The prosecutor's office is still working on that and reviewing that for right now, but he is in custody," he said.

Pettiford says Thomas attended Antioch approximately 20 years ago and has made similar bomb threats in the past.
