SWAT Team Stand-Off In Yellow Springs Ends With One Dead

Wayne Baker

A SWAT team situation ended in Yellow Springs early this morning with one person dead. Multiple law enforcement agencies from Greene County and around the Dayton area responded to the 200 block of North High Street in Yellow Springs after gun shots were fired around 10:30 last night.

Police and SWAT teams exchanged gunfire with the alleged suspect several times during the standoff which was still going on early this morning.

"We were taking multiple shots. We have two cruisers with bullet holes in them. We returned fire and the resident of the house is deceased," says  Gene Fischer is the Greene County Sherriff.

Several neighbors reported hearing bullets spray through their yard. Neighbors also told WYSO that the resident of the house was arrested in 2009 when police say they took a weapon from him and a search warrant for his home turned up more than 15 rifles and several handguns.

There were also several thousands rounds of ammunition and body armor.

This is a developing story.
