Clark County Board of Elections Prepared for Tuesday's Election

Some voters in Clark County will be casting their ballots in a new polling place on Tuesday.

The Board of Elections is asking voters to visit its website before going to vote in order to make sure they are headed to the correct precinct.

For a small portion of voters in Clark County, there will be a difference in where they will cast their ballot. Clark County Board of Elections Director Matthew Tlachac says it's a good idea to double check where your voting precinct is before heading out to cast your ballot on election day.

"We would advocate that voters look at our website for any polling location changes. A few of our precincts, only a portion of them were open,so we redirected them to a new polling location for this election alone. We've notified those individuals with a card in the mail. But it's only about less than 500 voters that are affected by that," Tlachac said.

Tlachac believes that poll workers are prepared for Tuesday and things should run smoothly, especially with counting provisional ballots.

"The BMV recently sent files to the Secretary of State and we updated just recently, a couple days ago, about 1,700 records. So that will hopefully offset the amount of provisionals that we sometimes have. With the turnout being lower than it was last year, expected to be much lower, we probably won't run into as many provisional ballots. As far as everything being ready to go, we're ready for Tuesday," Tlachac said.

The polls open at 6:30 a.m. and will close at 7:30 p.m.
