The Springfield News Sun is reporting that Springfield Township voters have ousted longtime fiscal officer, Herb Greer, who has been under fire lately for bookkeeping errors.
Newcomer Mike Hively defeated Greer on Tuesday in unofficial results by a count of 52% to 48%. Pressure to unseat Greer began building in late September after township trustees learned he failed to pay the lease on the township's administrative building. The error forced the township to pay more than $124,00.
Hively is the vice-president of 5/3 Bank and told the News Sun that voters were not happy with Greer's performance.
Greer told the newspaper that he felt bullied by township trustees and is proud to have served the community.
