What's Great in Dayton: July 7 - July 13, 2017
Two hours of urban trekking on foot is a fast-paced scavenger hunt in and around downtown Dayton. You'll experience the city in a whole new way as you weave through downtown tonight during First Friday. Racers will navigate the city with a map, answering the questions and performing tasks on the clue sheet.
They are throwing a party on Pine St. in The Oregon District tonight from 5 to 11pm and performances by two local musical groups. Event sponsors will supply adult beverages, and there will be munchies and oversized board games to keep you having fun all night long. Don't forget to check out all the rest of the amazing First Friday activities lined up, especially the great shopping and dining options throughout the District.
What Ever Happened To Baby Jane. This campy - and even creepy - story about two sisters elevates sibling rivalry to a whole new level. Don't leave early or you'll miss the surprise twist at end of the movie. Victoria Theatre; tonight & Saturday at 7pm; Sunday, 3pm.
The Troy Hayner concert tonight at 7:30pm has Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin performing for the first time. Silky T's passion and artistry is of the Jimi Hendrix sound. Relive a time of energy and voice or acquaint yourself with a musical genius who lived in an explosively creative era. Opening is Ball and Chain, a five piece Janis Joplin tribute band. There is no cover fee for this concert and bring your lawn chair to Prouty Plaza. This concert may be loud.
The Antioch Writer's Workshop will be starting Saturday for the week. This will feature keynoter and Sunday morning creative writing craft class instructor John Scalzi, a world-renowned, award-winning science fiction writer. In addition a line-up of stellar faculty and guest speakers focusing on fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction and the business of publishing will be there.
