What's Great in Dayton: May 7 - 13, 2021

Tonight is First Friday in downtown Dayton so you can explore the shopping, dining, drinks, and creative local arts scene at the independent, small businesses of downtown Dayton.

And Saturday is the downtown Dayton Sidewalk Sale. This is an open-air experience that takes place throughout the streets in the downtown area. Retailers have merchandise for sale displayed in front of their storefronts; eateries offer take-away food and drink specials; roving entertainers including acoustic musicians and street magicians will be out on the streets.

And there’s also a Trunk Art Show. More than 40 artists and artisans from across the Miami Valley are in Front Streetfor this Saturday event from 10am to 4pm.

May is National Bike Month and MetroParks is providing this month virtually of information about biking in the Miami Valley. There is a Virtual Bike Month Facebook Group and you can see weekly updates and learn about fun contests and activities.

The Dayton Art Institute is OPEN on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays! One of their current exhibits is Looking at Family. This presents concepts of family, love, and relationships. And if there’s a family photo you treasure you can upload your photograph for possible inclusion in their digital exhibition.
