Best of the Book Nook: The Nine Emotional Lives of Cats - a Journey into the Feline Heart by Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson

Vick Mickunas' 2002 interview with Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson

I believe there are two kinds of people. There are the people who know and understand (and love) cats and then there's everybody else. I'm a happy member of that first group. I have a cat on my lap at this very moment as I am writing these words. (She is my editorial assistant). And she says that I'm doing purr-fectly well so far.

So I am a cat guy and I love talking to other cat people. Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson is one of my fellow cat lovers. In 2002 I had the opportunity to talk to him about his book "The Nine Emotional Lives of Cats - a Journey into the Feline Heart" and we had a lovely conversation.

He was rather far from home that day. The author came out to Yellow Springs for the interview. He lives in New Zealand. He's also one of the more fascinating guests I have ever interviewed. Of course we talked quite a lot about cats but it was the other stuff that we discussed that was truly amazing.
