GRAMMY® Award-nominated songwriter/producer/performer Maggie Rogers will bring The Don’t Forget Me Tour to Cincinnati, OH for a performance at The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park on Friday, June 7. The Japanese House, the critically acclaimed project of Amber Bain, will support.
The tour is named for Rogers’ new album, Don’t Forget Me, which will be released on April 12 via Capitol Records. Pre-order Don’t Forget Me HERE. Rogers debuted “Don’t Forget Me,” along with upcoming album tracks “The Kill,” and “So Sick Of Dreaming” during her sold-out Summer of ’23 North American headline tour. The 2024 Canal Music Fest will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 6:00 p.m., at City Park, in Tipp City, Ohio. Food and beverages will be available beginning at 5:00 p.m. Vendors on site will be Bolasko's Concessions, Buckeye Burgers, Daryls House of BBQ, Johnny Wontons, Kona Ice, La Granja Mexican, Raging Bull Pizza and Susie's Big Dipper. Skull Dollz Face Painters will also on site. Join us for a night of music featuring “Draw the Line—Aerosmith Tribute Band,” Michael Williams–finalist on The Voice & American Idol and local fav znels.
The Canal Music Fest is free and open to the public. No coolers permitted. Join us on June 8 and bring your lawn chair or blanket. You will find us in the park, north of the Tipp City Aquatic Center. Miami Friends Meeting presents a very special event: The Black American Music Journey.Dr. J LanYe will perform music and commentary at the White Brick Meeting House in Waynesville, Ohio on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 12:30 pm. Friends are welcome as is the community. There is no charge for this wonderful event which is scheduled for 1 ½ to 2 hours. Dr. J began performing and playing music at the age of three. By the age of 7, she was soloing at weddings and special events in Youngstown, Ohio. At the age of 7, she and her mother were co-sopranoists at the Dunbar Choral Club, a highly recognized Black ensemble. Dr. J has been writing and performing for 75 years. She has written a series of operas including one which detailed events surrounding the Underground Railroad. Dr. J has presented over 3000 musical presentations. She has served as an administrator in the music departments of a number of universities and was the music director of the Karamu Theater in Cleveland, Ohio. She was Director of Music at John Carroll University in the Cleveland area from 1989 – 1995, and taught Black Music History there. She also was the choir director at John Carroll She also provided musical instruction over the years at Youngstown State University, Central State University and Berea College. Dr. J was the Conductor of the Shaker Heights Symphony from 1997 - 2006.All are welcome to enjoy The Black American Music Journey with Dr. J LanYe. For those interested, Meeting for Worship is scheduled at 10:45 am. Coffee, tea, and water will be available.
