The University of Dayton says an increased police presence and visitor and parking restrictions are planned to head off possible rowdy celebrations of St. Patrick's Day and of the men's basketball team.

UD Director of Public Safety, Bruce Burt, says the school has worked with Dayton and Oakwood police to set up a crowd management team to keep students, the community, and property safe if crowds get out of hand. Authorities also have a social media strategy.

The school took steps last year to calm down St. Patrick's Day partying after a 2013 melee in which police were met by bottle-throwing partiers.

The Flyers basketball team's NCAA tournament run last year to make the last eight teams saw raucous celebrations after their upset victories.
