Daytonnati? Summit To Focus On Regional Cross-Marketing

Think Regional

"Daytonnati" and "Cincidayton" don’t exactly roll off the tongue, but some local leaders are pushing the idea of looking at Cincinnati and Dayton as one contiguous region. A group will gather Thursday for the first Think Regional summit to talk about regional strategies for business development.

“I think the more that we know about the others in our community, the better ambassadors we can be for our region as a whole,” says Arla Tannehill with Leadership Warren County, one of the groups organizing the 15-county summit.  The region as a whole might be able to market itself more effective, she argues. The Research Triangle in North Carolina is one example of multiple cities —in that case, Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill—promoting a regional image.

On Thursday leaders from Darke and Miami counties down to the Kentucky border will talk transportation, energy, workforce development, education, and how to collaborate on all of the above. Organizers hope it will spur some ongoing work focused on regional planning.
