Democrats Release Legislative Priorities

Democrats in the Ohio House say they plan to push for more oversight of the state's new private job creation entity, JobsOhio. They also want to put any unanticipated new state money into a fund that cities and townships can use to return police officers or firefighters to the job. Local governments' funding took a hit in the latest state budget.

Minority Leader Armond Budish on Tuesday laid out the 2012 legislative priorities for his caucus. Other proposals included increased reporting requirements for private, for-profit charter schools regarding their use of public money.

It's unlikely much of the Democrats' plans will get traction in the GOP-controlled House. Republicans hold a 59-40 edge.
