Dr. Alan E. Guskin on the birth of the Peace Corps

courtesy of Al Guskin

"It still amazes me fifty years later." Dr. Alan Guskin, former University Chancellor and current Distinguished Professor of Higher Education for the PhD in Leadership and Change Program at Antioch University, Al Guskin, recalls his experience organizing a student group at the University of Michigan that is widely credited with inspiring John F. Kennedy to establish the Peace Corps.

Here, he recounts that experience at Antioch University's Seattle campus. The event opened with a screening of "A Passing of the Torch," a documentary film produced by Paul Long with the support of the University of Michigan as part of the Peace Corps's 50th anniversary celebration.
