1st Congressional District Race in Cincinnati Closely Watched

One of the closely watched races for the US House is in the 1st Congressional district that covers Cincinnati.

Democrat incumbant Steve Driehaus is challenged by Republican hopeful Steve Chabot. Chabot represented the 1st District for seven terms before Driehaus unseated him in 2008 during the Presidential election.

WVXU s Ann Thompson says it's been a very tough race for Driehaus. He lost party support after some bad polling numbers came out in September showing Driehaus twelve percentage points behind Chabot.

"The Democratic party pulled the money to advertise for Driehaus, kind of in a sense giving up on him. But that wasn't for Driehaus who instead went on YouTube and appealed directly to the voters," says Thompson.

Thompson says that there haven't been any new polls since to see if Driehaus' efforts are paying off, but she says it's a long shot for his reelection bid.

"The feeling is it's not going to be that close," says Thompson.

Chabot has faced closed races in the past, but analysts don't feel that this will be one of them.
