What's Great In Dayton: August 20 - 26, 2021
Charlie Campbell's picks for what to do and see this week in the Miami Valley
Saturday in the lovely St. Anne's Hill Historic District in Dayton is Porchfest. You can hear dozens of mini concerts as you walk around the neighborhood…everything from indie, rock, jazz, classical, country and more. It begins at 1:30 and lasts until 7pm. At 2pm I’ll be playing my accordion for a sing along!
Both tonight and Saturday there are bands playing at Levitt Pavilion. There is no cost for this….but you do need to bring a blanket or a chair. It’s at 7pm and to see who is playing go to: levittdayton.org
If you want all kinds of fresh local foods then head to The Second Street Market. It’s on Saturday from 8am to 3pm.
At the Neon Movies there are Family Films on Saturday mornings. Tickets are given on a first-come, first-serve basis. It’s a chance for families to enjoy the movie-going experience together. There is no cost and it's at 11am.
Nominations are now open for the 2021 Access to Justice Awards. If you know an individual and/or organization who have provided substantial assistance to low-income residents to improve their conditions and give them access to opportunities, then nominate them now. The deadline is August 30.
The deadline for nominating a Women of Influence is September 1. This is organized by the YWCA of Dayton to honor women all of whom have made a difference in this community.
Best of all…
