Book Nook: Mirage Man by Trace Conger

Vick Mickunas' 2021 interview with Trace Conger

Trace Conger returned to the program to introduce a new series of thrillers that feature a former criminal named Connor Harding. This protagonist had been working for an organized crime syndicate in New York City when he suddenly decided to retire. Which begs the question; can a criminal really go into retirement like that? Is it that simple? Apparently it isn't.

Conger has written a propulsive novel that churns with energy and tension. Things move rather quickly and they get fairly crazy. I was really wondering if this guy was going to survive his series debut. He was thoroughly beaten up by the end. And as the story concludes we have a good sense of what Connor will be trying to do in the next book. He owes somebody a huge favor. Repaying that debt will not be an easy thing to do.

The Book Nook on WYSO is presented by the Greene County Public Library with additional support from Washington-Centerville Public Library, Clark County Public Library, Dayton Metro Library, and Wright Memorial Public Library.
