What's Great In Dayton: February 1 - 7, 2019

The Corndrinkers will perform at a contra dance tonight at Michael Solomon Pavillion in Kettering.

It’s been a cold, snowy January, and downtown Dayton businesses are ready to heat things up for the February 1 First Friday which is tonight all-over downtown Dayton.

The Dutoit Gallery has a solo exhibition of artist Sam Kelly which according to Kelly, “the paintings begin with a vague idea, often going through a rigorous additive and subtractive process.” The paintings are modest in subject but intense in their visual energy. This is tonight from 6 to 9 pm.

Contra Dancing is fun and dynamic and you get some instruction at 7:30pm and the real dancing is 8 to 11pm. The music is The Corndrinkers and this is at the Michael Solomon Pavilion in Kettering tonight.

A local filmmaker Clint Bramlette has announced he'll be shooting a feature film, The Color of The Sun, here in the Miami Valley this spring. There is a casting call for this on Saturday with over a dozen roles to be based locally.

At an afternoon tea at Patterson Homestead you have an authentic three course tea service served by costumed interpreters. And you learn about the Patterson family. This is Sunday, 2 to 4pm.
