Book Nook: Maestros and Their Music - the Art and Alchemy of Conducting, by John Mauceri

John Mauceri was heading to Dayton to be the guest conductor for the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and that presented a wonderful opportunity to interview this eminent artist. We discussed his book "Maestros and Their Music - the Art and Alchemy of Conducting" and it was truly invigorating and educational to hear what he had to say about his views on the art of conducting and some of his experiences from a long and distinguished career.

John had so much to share that day that we actually ran over the time we had originally allotted for the interview. I could not bear to edit out any of the things he had said to shorten it up so we invited our own maestro, Neal Gittleman, to come in to our studios to talk about his long association with John and his excitement about having him come to town to conduct Neal's orchestra, a project that had been planned for years and was finally happening! Neal's insights and additional commentary provided us with just enough extra content to produce this more lengthy program. Thank you, gentlemen!
