Stats + Stories: The Problem with Plastics

Roland Geyer is Professor at UCSB's Bren School of Environmental Science and Management.
Stats and Stories

WYSO is partnering with Stats and Stories, a podcast produced at Miami University.

Almost every week it seems there’s a new story out about the horrors of plastic pollution. Sometimes focused on its impact on wildlife, others zeroing in on the ways we collectively contribute to some 8 million pieces of plastic that find their way into our oceans every single day. Plastic pollution is seen by many as a crisis with thinktanks, nonprofits and academics all searching for sustainable solutions to the problem. Rosemary Pennington and  regular panelists John Bailer, Chair of Miami Statistics Department, and Richard Campbell former Chair of Media, Journalism and Film are joined by Roland Geyer. Geyer is professor at the Brynn school of environmental science and management at the university of California Santa Barbara. In his work Geyer focuses on issues related to environmental sustainability with a specific focus on pollution and pollution prevention strategies.

Stats and Stories is a partnership between Miami University's Departments of Statistics and Media, Journalism and Film and the American Statistical Association. You can follow us on Twitter or iTunes. If you'd like to share your thoughts on our program, send your e-mail to statsandstories@miamioh.edu and be sure to listen for future editions of Stats and Stories where we discuss the statistics behind the stories and the stories behind the statistics.
