"Murder Takes a Vacation" by Laura Lippman - the Mystery Writers of America Grand Master's first cozy mystery featuring protagonist Muriel Blossom on a European cruise adventure.

Fans of Lippman's Tess Monaghan series might recall her character named Muriel Blossom. Mrs. Blossom was employed by the private investigator Tess Monaghan; her specialty was tailing suspects without getting noticed. Mrs. Blossom is an older woman who was able to blend right into the scenery while she followed people around Baltimore.

Now Mrs. Blossom has her own book, and if we are lucky, perhaps there will be more to come. The author likes to pivot around when she does projects, so if there is another book and this becomes a series, it might be a while. In this interview, Lippman explained that this is her first novel in the cozy mystery category and writing a cozy wasn't that easy.

As the story opens, Mrs. Blossom is getting ready to fly to Europe to take a cruise in France along the Seine River. She has recently come into some money and has decided to eschew frugality for once. When somebody gets murdered, Mrs. Blossom is on the case.
