The branch is expected to open in the summer of 2022

Dayton Metro Library is planning to build a new branch in Northmont along Route 40. The Dayton Metro branch currently in Northmont shares a building with the Englewood Government Center. Jayne Klose, Community Engagement Manager for Dayton Metro Library, says this has been a tight squeeze for both organizations.

“There was no room really to expand there and quite honestly I believe the city government could use some space," Klose says. "So it made sense to have our own free-standing library.”

Klose says the position of the new branch will be an asset.

"We’re really pleased to be right there on National Road Route 40, we’re really close to the Kleptz Early Learning Center, the YMCA, an easy walk or bike ride from the high school.”

The new branch will be 60% bigger than the old location. That means there’ll be room for amenities that couldn’t fit into the old branch like study and meeting rooms, a teen hangout area, and an adult quiet reading room equipped with a fireplace.

Klose expects construction to begin this July but says the new branch likely won’t open until the summer of 2022.
