Dayton Public Schools says the coronavirus situation in Montgomery County has improved enough to allow students and staff to safely return to school. DPS says they’ll transition from virtual learning to a hybrid mix of in-person classes and online learning starting Monday November 9.
DPS Superintendent Elizabeth Loli told reporters in a press conference Thursday, that it’s about finding ways to live with the pandemic.
“To not have our students face-to-face is only detrimental to them because they need to be in school," she said. "We need to see them, we need to be able to teach them, and most of us in Montgomery County are headed back to school in some fashion.”
The district says half of students will be assigned to come into school on Mondays and Tuesdays while the other half will attend classes on Thursdays and Fridays.
The district says parents can choose to have in-person classes, but they MUST make that decision by October 23. After that date, all unassigned students will have to continue with classes online.
