Children's Services workers picketed for less than one day in July.

A union representing Montgomery County Children’s services workers is close to reaching a contract deal with the county.

County and Professional Guild of Ohio representatives have reached a “conceptual framework for a tentative agreement,” according to a joint statement released Wednesday.

Negotiations began in February and stalled this summer, after the two parties failed to agree on wage increases.

In July, a judge paused a union strike just hours after workers walked off the job. Then, after the State Employment Relations Board ruled the strike could be harmful to children, the two sides were ordered to return to the bargaining table.

The tentative agreement ending the contract impasse must be ratified by both parties to be official.
