Dayton Children's is also expanding in the city of Dayton, with this new patient tower.

The Dayton Children’s Hospital has announced a major expansion of its facilities in Springboro.

The hospital plans to spend nearly $50 million to more than double the size of its south suburban location to include a surgery center and emergency facilities.

Debbie Felman is the CEO at Children's. "It brings care close to home in the southern part of our region and it really is a continuation of our mission which is to improve the health status regargless of their ability to pay and ensure that they have world-class health care."

The campus in Springboro already includes urgent care and outpatient care facilities. Hospital officials say youth populations are growing rapidly in the southern suburbs. Children’s hospital revenues have been on the rise around the country, and Dayton is among a number of private children’s systems undergoing major expansions.

The new services in Springboro are expected to be up and running in about two years.
