Clark County Implements Two Economic Projects

Clark County has implemented two economic improvement projects. City officials expect both projects to have a significant impact on tourism and business.

The Greater Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau unveiled a  new marketing brand for Clark County recently. "Find Your Unwind," is now the slogan attached to the city and county that will appear on social media, t-shirts, mugs and other merchandise.

Chris Schutte, director of the CVB, believes the new brand will help Springfield compete better with areas like Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati.

"You know they have a lot to hang their hat on," Schutte said. "They have professional sports teams, they have zoos, they have different waterparks and attractions that are nationally recognized, and for Springfield we are really trying to create an identity as a regional tourism hub."

Bob Rafferty co-founder of Knowble Media and Andy Hayes, the owner of the Hucklebuck Design studio, worked with the city to create a slogan and brand that will help bring more tourism dollars to Clark County.

"Both Andy and I live in Springfield, so I think that we had a pretty big awareness for what the region has to offer and being able to create something that people can really get behind," Rafferty said.

Hayes added, "We have a lot of assets that sadly a lot of people that live here really haven't even experienced. So, I think highlighting those in an authentic way, I think will have an impact."

This week, the city also flipped the switch on a new $500,000 double-sided 30 foot digital billboard on I-70, by the Prime Ohio II Industrial Park. It will be used to advertise local events only and not contain any private advertising. The billboard will be paid for by money collected from the countywide accommodations tax.
