Urbana Construction Company To Build New Springfield Industrial Park

Clark County has awarded a construction contract to an Urbana-based company to begin work on a large industrial park project called Prime Ohio II. The industrial park is projected to bring over 1,000 jobs to the county.

Prime Ohio II  is approximately 200 acres and will sit just south of the Clark County Fairgrounds off of 1-70. The construction company, J&J Schlaegel, was the winning bidder to do the work on the nearly $8 million project.

The park will be home to manufacturing, distribution and logistic firms. Horton Hobbs, IV with the Greater Springfield Chamber says that the effort to develop Prime Ohio II follows the success of nearby Prime Ohio 1.

"It will be a very similar set-up. With its proximity to I-70, virtually a direct access to I-70, and its direct visibility there, it's a great opportunity," Hobbs says.

Hobbs feels the location is ideal to attract companies, and just recently, Loves Inc, a national truck stop chain company announced it will build an $8 million travel center close to Prime Ohio Two.

Construction will begin for Prime Ohio II in October and is scheduled to be completed in August of 2014.
