A colonel based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base was sentenced to a suspended 60 day jail sentence today after being found guilty of sexual imposition. Colonel Mayan Shah will serve 180 days of in home detention and is classified as a tier one sex offender. He will be on probation for three years and ordered to pay $250 in court costs.
Shah is a research analyst at the Air Force Materiel Command who was found guilty of sexual imposition following an event last summer at Carillon Park.
The Dayton Daily News reports that Shah’s defense attorney told the court that he has submitted his retirement papers to the Air Force and that his client will pay financially for the rest of his life.
The municipal court judge, Christopher D. Roberts, said he had zero respect and tolerance for Shah’s conduct and said no one sent any letters of support for him. Shah says he apologizes for "all that’s happened".
