The Peace Museum's new exhibit has twelve powerful portraits from artist Robert Shetterly's series, 'Americans Who Tell the Truth.' Each portrait includes a quote and short biography. One of the portraits is of Paul K. Chappell, a West Point Graduate from California who has spoken three times in Dayton. Dayton International Peace Museum and always free admission.
The Black Box will be having their grand opening on Saturday. They will have shows on Friday and Saturday evenings at 9:30pm and doors will open at 9:00pm. Tickets are available for $9 at their ticket counter 30 minutes prior to the show. They are located in The Cannery at 518 E. Third Street.
Yellow Springs Kids Playhouse (YSKP) presents Mo's Night at the Opera on this weekend at 7:30pm in the Antioch Amphitheater. This year's offering, Mo's Night at the Opera is derived from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and the Marx Brothers' classic film A Night at the Opera. The fancifully costumed production also features live music and period dance. The production has original music by Neal Kirkwood as well as the music of Mozart, Irving Berlin and the McGuire Sisters.
Michelob Dayton Blues Festival Dave Hall Plaza, Sunday, 1-9 p.m. Enjoy the best blues bands and performances in the region at the Michelob Dayton Blues Festival - the second event in the City of Dayton's Downtown Summer Music Series. The rhythms flow freely as the blues tunes are belted out. A variety of food and merchandise vendors will be present. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome; alcoholic beverages and pets are not permitted. Free valet parking for bicycles will be available.
