What's Great in Dayton: March 30 - April 5, 2012


So many things are going on….can you take a long break??? Now there is a play called Gem of the Ocean. This is one of August Wilson's famed "Pittsburgh Cycle," ten plays about residents of that city's Hill District. It's a mixture of fantasy and harsh reality, as 285-year old Aunt Ester leads a community for whom slavery is an all-too-vivid memory.  Visit humanrace theatre.org.

The Modigliani Quartet from France, will be performing on Saturday, at 8 p.m. in The Dayton Art Institute’s NCR Renaissance Auditorium.

Lunafest, is a festival of short films by, for and about women, on Sunday, April 1 from 3:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m. at The Neon Movies. This year's program includes 9 short films. In addition former WSU film student Liz Cambron will screen & discuss her short film Park, which follows the life of an aimless teenage girl living in a trailer park as she slips into a world of alcohol, drugs and sexual exploitation.
