What's Great in Dayton: September 30 - October 7, 2011

Gearfest is the Midwest Outdoor Experience. All kind of things including camping, competitions, regional music acts, exciting demos, and Friday and Saturday, a night beer garden. It’s at the Eastwood Metro Park.

A new, interactive exhibit is at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery and it is all about the Miami Valley’s extraordinary water resources. It’s called "SPLASH."

On Saturday morning at the Huffman Prairie Flying Field, which is adjacent to Wright- Pat, you can bring your dog, and a park ranger will tell how two dogs, "Flyer" and "Scipio" were the Wright Brothers “best friends” It’s from 9:00-11:00am.

The Dayton Philharmonic concert is at 5 p.m. on Sunday, at the Omega Baptist Church, in Dayton. Neal Gittleman will be the conductor and it will include the choir for a rousing rendition of “Hallelujah, You’re Worthy to Be Praised.

And on Sunday at 7:30pm at the Dayton Art Institute, the famous Irish singer Orla Fallon, will be there for a one night stand. She will be doing some songs from her newest album, My Land, as well as classics from Celtic Woman. www.ticketcenterstage.com
