What's Great In Dayton: November 22 - 28, 2019

Christmas in Springboro
This weekend is Christmas in Springboro.

At Christmas in Springboro there are sleigh bells ringing from the horse-drawn carriage, a sip of hot cocoa, the sound of children’s laughter and a nip in the air. Downtown businesses dress for the holidays with lights decorations and holiday cheer. Food and craft vendors line the streets with delicious goodies and unique treasures. This is tonight, Saturday & Sunday.

If you want to actually meet a podcaster then drop by the Downtown Dayton library for a behind-the-scenes look at the work of podcaster George Drake Jr. He has his new podcast "Fifth and Ludlow...a five-part podcast about secrets, life, & perseverance." You can meet him on Saturday from 3 to 5:30pm.

A Russian Duo are teaming up for an exuberant performance from their extensive repertoire including Russian folk music, dances, classical music, gypsy melodies, bluegrass, and Soviet songs. Featured will be their version of “Free Spirit Rag!”  This is at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oakwood on Sunday, at 3pm. While there is no cost there will be a voluntary donation afterwards.

Get your tickets now for when the Peace Community are celebrating the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate for Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. It's going to be at the Marriott at UD on Saturday November 30 around noon but you want to get your tickets now.

The Holiday Gift Gallery is an all-art, all-original, all-local fine art and fine craft gift gallery. It’s at the Contemporary Dayton, 118 N. Jefferson Street now to December 21.

And the Winter Gift Gallery is at K12 Gallery for Young People & TEJAS where many of the artists showcase paintings, ceramics, blown glass, prints, and jewelry for sale. Give the gift of handmade art!
