What's Great in Dayton: January 12 - 18, 2018

The Mountain Dulcimer Society of Dayton and an accomplished hammered dulcimer player guest are performing at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center tonight at 7:30pm. Since there is no cost for this concert it is suggested that you come early as reservations for this popular event will not be taken.

The Who's Tommy is an exhilarating story of hope, healing and the human spirit. The story of the pinball-playing, deaf, dumb and blind boy who triumphs over his adversities has inspired, amazed and puzzled audiences for more than 40 years. A play of this is Friday and Saturday both this weekend and next.

The 2018 Dayton Blues Winter Showcase is on Saturday at 7pm. You can cheer on the acts that are heading to the 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. These acts were selected in July when they won the Dayton Blues Society's annual 'Road to Memphis' Competition.

Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm's first program in their Winter Speaker Series Women in Science is "Hey, Robyn, What's This?" on Sunday, from 2:30 to 4pm.

Five Rivers MetroParks is currently accepting nominations for its fourth annual OUTstanding Teacher Awards. Nominations are due January 31.

Gotta go….
