What's Great In Dayton: September 29 - October 5, 2017
Just in time to stock up for long winter nights, the Friends of the Dayton Metro Library are hosting their Fall Book Sale at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds on Friday, 4 to 8pm and Saturday, 10am to 5pm. This features items weeded from all Dayton Metro Library locations, including books for children, teens and adults as well as CDs, DVDs and more.
Miami Valley Hospital will unveil its newly renovated maternity center on Sunday with tours, a door prize, and refreshments. The open house runs from 2 to 4 pm. During the open house, you can speak with clinical staff who deliver at Miami Valley Hospital and tour the renovated Berry Women's Center.
Do you have a pet? Blessing Of The Animals is on Sunday, 3 to 4pm at RiverScape under the pavilion canopy. Dog treats and water will be provided. All dogs must be on a leash and other small animals (cats, rabbits, etc.) must be contained and not free roaming. This event is open to non-venomous pets and animal companions.
The Claremont Trio opens UD's ArtsLIVE season on Sunday at 3 PM at Sears Recital Hall, University of Dayton. The Claremont Trio is one of three classical ensembles presented as Vanguard Legacy Concerts at UD this season. They say it's the third time that's the charm. For the Claremont Trio, their charmed run of appearances will soon total 8!
A new seed fund launched in Dayton is aimed at boosting the growing number of startups in the region. Together with the NCIC Capital Fund, the Downtown Dayton Partnership is launching the Kiva Dayton Seed Fund to help jumpstart the use of crowdfunding tool Kiva as a lending source for local small businesses and startups.
