Mike's Block Party Returns to Dayton This Saturday

Mike's Bike Park on Facebook

Mike's Bike Park in Dayton regularly hosted block party events, featuring music, vendors, and food trucks, to benefit local organizations pre-pandemic. Now, they're ready to host their first return event in 2021, with proceeds going to the Gem City Bicycle Club. Mike Bisig, owner and namesake of Mike's Bike Park, came to the WYSO studios to speak with Excursions host Evan Miller about the upcoming event this weekend.

The latest edition of Mike's Block Party will take place this Saturday, August 7th from 5-9 PM in the parking lot outside the bike park at 1300 E. First St in Dayton. The event features local art and craft vendors, food trucks, plus music and dance from Etch and Funk Lab. More information can be found at Facebook.com.

Evan Miller is a percussionist, lover of sound, and is probably buying too many cassette tapes online right now. Evan got his start in radio in 2012 at WWSU at Wright State University, where he was studying percussion performance. He followed through with both endeavors and eventually landed a lucrative dual career playing experimental music at home and abroad, and broadcasting those sounds to unsuspecting listeners Sunday nights on The Outside. Maintaining a connection to normal music, Evan also plays drums in bands around the area, and hosts WYSO's Midday Music show. When not doing something music-related, Evan is most likely listening to podcasts or watching food videos at home with his cat.
